How Long Do I Serve In The Military
Friday, 19/09/2008
seat level with Adrian and Clement in the suburban of Riesi to Palermo and thought I could again tell what's going on here with me so! First: We are on the way to the airport in Palermo, is whether we actually arrive there from the previous two transfers from time :-)
Our trip to Germany has 19 to 25, the Oktoberfest the goal, but also serves to do a few things to. With a lot of the pain of parting we leave the other volunteers in the Servizio and make our way to Munich! Pour over our weekend will soon NEN journal :-)
The last two weeks have been quite Surrender, we were a couple of times at sea, most of the time at Grotto beach, which we have found by Zoran! Unfortunately, the swimming time is now probably over, the temperatures are from one another on the week
down rabid, in a day have been raining.
only good that we had not been essential to the pulmino / are
because that is denied us still! First, turn the lags of the Director the first few weeks not at Dawar and the instructions and problems were handled by telephone, after which no date was the "driving test" with Giuseppe to make, at long last, the director used the pulmino as leverage to bring us to the common room to clean:-D In a mysterious way, he knows that is who we obem Cleans and who is not ... A note on the fridge announced: "He who does not dressing must not make the test drive the VW bus." We will see where it is all leading.
But we came up with the Jeep now everywhere-hard Madonna in Gela, stand, shopping in Mazzerino ...
Last Wednesday we had to say goodbye to Eva and Henni, it was a very fun week with you! Some pictures speak for themselves!
The work here is still a lot of fun, along with Pepe, and Luigi Rosario we renovate room for future volunteers remove anything in the Servizio and draw the DSL / phone lines back and forth on the site :-)
But we had of course the phone line a few days later exchange again because it did not work ..
But the second time everything works better. By Pepe's wisdom we will never get bored, and we learn every day a little more Italian. Working in the Caretaker is associated with physical work, there remains room
enough to bring his ideas and to expend creative, even if it's only when painting the wall or Wegmeiseln of old plaster is :-) We are also often on and Servizio go around, so you can at the André volunteers auchmal Working watch or drink a coffee here and there.

Again "at home"!
After 6 days at home in Germany Clemens, Adrian and I arrived back in Riesi. Each of us has attempted in the few days to meet friends and family to take care of organizational or simply to just be home :-) From the entry onto the bus stop at unofficial Q8 in Riesi to check in at the Palermo airport our trip went smoothly frightening. Friday we went for a relatively snack with beer to bed early, we wanted to be fit for `s Weißwurscht breakfast the next morning! Many thanks again for this
`s numerous appearance tell others that we meet, you got me to look again!
were strengthened with Weißwürscht beer and we went to Munich to 2, from 5, we grab a table in Sausalito, it was worth up to 21-clock gabs delicious food and happy hour cocktails. As could be lumpy and not too Adrian
benefitting the Klofrau by his Klogängen. But the Dyson hand dryer can jump schonmal about 8 €, right?
After we had found Clemens uncle and his sister along with girlfriend, we went from the meeting place for the next day: 7:30 clock in front of the Augustiner tent!
did I! The eat a pretzel on the train, Andren prefer the liquid meal à la Bright:-D After waiting an hour in front of the tent, we get a good table and pour our short stay with precious fabric, chicken, pork Brotn, pork. At half past 4, we break up then, finally, we want to exploit the next day full-time is precious in few days!
On Thursday gabs then meet again at the airport a short shock still lying down in front: Only a miserable long traffic jam on the A8 direction Munich,
then managed the car of my friend just in the garage of the airport. A call to the ADAC then defused the situation, half an hour before I had to
through the security check the yellow angel came and took care of the vehicle. A tip here: do not buy you Peugot
!
The flight went well, we had to wait an hour to Zoran and his friend picked us up in nem small Fiat. One can imagine
as we have forced us inside with our suitcases, but not enough: Zoran still would like to briefly visit someone in Palermo!
no problem for us, but nobody knows really where we hinmüssen, chat with people on the road leads us through all of Palermo. Eventually
then we wake up with third-degree sprains in Riesi and bursting out of the small car, but still: Get Thanks Zoran for!
Today was like a volcano from the new information- Volunteers from Spain is here, she is the cousin of director and is 4 months;
we can not still do the test for the pulmino, ie we are until further limited in our mobility. Furthermore, it is rumored that the director
will send home two people. This is the couscous festival in Trapani also probably nothing and the American volunteers
is coming tomorrow. Oh Adrian Clemens and cut straight to crown himself the hair, we want to eventually be chic if we go straight to
food :-)
That's from Riesi, we horn back soon!
PS: The images should speak for themselves ;-)

Cheap Tennessee Titan Pullover
In Ghana it has three main meals a day. Breakfast consists mostly of white bread and tea. Sometimes there are oatmeal or rice porridge with sugar and milk powder. have lunch and dinner there for like "heavy food" (~ hearty meal) as my host mother always says proudly. This usually consists of a hot red sauce with fish or shrimp and you much carbohydrate (yam, coco-yam, plantain, rice or fufu). The sauce is usually a little watery, as small a pot for only about 3. Tomatoes, 2 hot kl. Peppers, small second Onions, oil and water are used. Ate it as follows: Take the RIGHT hand, the "carbs", dips it in the sauce and eat. The left hand is taboo, and for other activities such as an object to offer them. Vegetables and fruits are only rare because it is very expensive for the locals. My favorite food is Red-Red. They are fried in palm oil, plantains with a bean sauce. For this one uses more mature plantains, which thereby get a sweet taste (usually rather salty). Sweet food is eaten very little. Chocolate is unfortunately also very expensive. Until now I've just bought a board. Nevertheless, I have already determined this diet 1-2 kilos risen, because to do sports is also unusual.
at the table manners in the house one must also get used to something. Man eats loudly and quickly.
My host brother says the often, that I should eat more quickly, although I usually eat at a relatively fast.
103 Fever Sore Throat Chills Lower Back Pain
After a few days I had already settled in well. I have the advice of Henry (the Project Manager) seriously. At the orientation seminar from the beginning, he always said, namely: "The three most important things are, communication, communication and communication"
The communication was at first a little heavier, but it has improved. The Ghanaians have English as an official language, but with a strange accent. For example, they pronounce the word "ask" them as "aks" and the "th" in English is like a hard 'T' pronounced. In addition, they translate many phrases in their local languages out what is not proper English. Also unusual was that a question first of all an "OK" comes the answer. I often thought they did not understand me. Thus, it was initially hard to know what they mean. Some normal English expressions are strange to them again. I want to generalize it, but in my host family there is at least.
Otherwise they are very nice, responsive to my interest in the culture and explain to me often like something. My host brother showed me the first day of the city (Swedru) and helped me to focus. Currently is the holiday season, so is do not yet have the regulated life. work until the beginning of the school, my host mother must get longer, because more materials are sold. My host father is also no longer sit all day in front of his radio and my host brothers and sisters can not watch TV that much.
However, each has its particular role in the family. My host father is the master of the situation. My host sister has to wash all the dishes in the morning the previous day and often help with cooking. My host mother is generally responsible for cooking. My host brother in the morning sweeps the whole house and wash the clothes with her sister (on Wednesdays and Saturdays). I now share the duties with my brother.
My host brother was immediately agreed that I sweep with him in the morning, but my host mother would not let me to start washing. She had the idea that the skin of a white man is not as arduous as more vulnerable than that of a black man. Also, as we once were in town and it came to carry the heavy shopping, they refused me to take it to her. My hands would go broke, so she thought. I think it needs a little time to convince them otherwise.
The hygiene in the house is in order. Insects occurred to me until now none under. Only very small, barely noticeable red ants crawling around. That there are few insects is probably due to that regularly poison is sprayed. My host brother told me that a few times a year, spray all the rooms. Apparently this is also done in the area outside the apartment to destroy the mosquitoes. In the apartment itself might be something more order prevail. Clothes are usually stored in large bags or on the floor. Also in the kitchen, there are no shelves and it's all on the floor (in the corners). Since I share the room with my host brother, I do not have much space to spread out and so are my clothes still in my suitcases. My bed is a little uncomfortable but at least long enough. For the mosquito net over my bed, I wanted a particular design To build the network that I can remove easily during the day. Unfortunately, in the only "supermarket" in the city, the lines and hooks, which I do it, sold out - maybe I'll get back next week which ...
something is disturbing the continuous noise in and around the house. The radio is on from morning until night at 5:30 clock clock by 22 - and at full volume. If at least would run fine music, it might be more tolerable. The station is a news and sports channels and so constantly is just loud jabbering in their local language. During the meal, or generally from 15 clock is still on the TV. To to understand something, the volume is set Läuter than the radio. For this reason, I usually pull me back to my room because there is minimal, but a little quieter.
Since the residential area in which we live is still relatively new, there are very few street lights. Why my host mother that I always before dark'm home (17 clock). The lighting is generally anywhere from a little sparse. The windows in the house let by very little light, so you have to read almost always turn on the light. The lamps are, unfortunately, only 9 W bulbs, so you find yourself constantly in a blue dim light.

Using Louana Coconut Oil On Hair
On Monday we should finally be brought to our host families. Kwesi had the day before departing again. Thus, organized Jojo the rest He woke us up in the morning at 7 clock, as he had to do in the city a bit and gained equal our foam mats on which we had slept a. He wanted them away at the same occasion. At 9 clock he wanted to be back. The driver of the car and a friend stayed still there.
As Jojo by 12 clock still was not there, we asked the driver to call him. Jojo was still in town and said that he still needs at least an hour. So we request the driver has driven into town to go eat something. Since you have advised us Now the food stalls at the beginning of something, we went to a pizzeria. It was quite expensive, but that was the moment we care because we were hungry. When we got back just 14 clock, Jojo was still not there. He finally picked us up by 16 clock. Time plays no role in Ghana.
After a brief stop at Jojo's house, in the center of Agona Swedru, we were successively brought to our host families. It was already dark and needed by some very bad weather road for a hundred yards we min approximately 5. The huge potholes in the unpaved roads ensured that we were pretty shaken. Luckily the car was not too low, otherwise I would have hit my head constantly.
I was sold already as the second. The family received me very nicely. I brought my things into the house and they gave me something to eat. There was again Yam with a sauce with fish. The request, if I want to use a spoon, I said no, because I wanted to play from the start no extra role. Very few meals are eaten in Africa, with cutlery. In the living room they had a plastic table, they brought me the food. When I began to eat, I was suddenly alone in the room. Only the television kept me company. I think they let me eat out of politeness alone. When I was finished, they were at least back to everyone and I were the family members of the family presented Nkrumah.
The mother is Eunice (42 years). It is fabric seller on the market in Swedru. The father, Kwesi (42), is a teacher at a Secondary School. My host sister (13) is called Abena and my host brother (15), with whom I share my room is, well Kwesi. The grandparents (father) live in the house and called Esi (grandmother) and again Kwesi (grandfather). The name of the given names based on the date on which it is born. Since I was born on a Saturday is my first name Ghanaian Kwame. I will now "Kwame Nkrumah" called. Funny thing is that the resistance fighters and later President of Ghana, even so called. Thus, the people always laugh when I introduce myself as Kwame Nkrumah.
When they had taught me the most important Ghanaian customs and a few words in Fanti (local language), they had me like their wide selection show on television.
Indeed, there are four stations. There GTV (Ghana TV), Metro (sports broadcaster), TV3 (entertainment) and TVAfrica (only African films). Often the picture is bad but usually also the content. Specifically, African films, which loves my host mother, are just bad Soups. It is mostly about family problems, or simple Erbgeschichten hostilities within the family. Comedies, are action or romantic films are not really.
After I came in the favor of the African television, it was getting late and time to go to bed. The first night I slept without a mosquito net, as in the house all the windows and doors were equipped with mosquito nets and I was assured the family that there were no mosquitoes.

Is My Scorpio Man Losing Interest
Today was for each of the first official working day! -Of course we were not idle in front! (Well some more or less already:-P) Today is the schedule that we have received from the director (I'll photograph the most confusing times). While Clemens and I Mon-Fri from 8 - 12 and 14 - work 17 clock with the caretaker, the schedules of others are a bit more versatile (the country economic plan looks the same, partly in order to catch the 7). The theme of Saturday work is done, at least for 4 of us completely, because the caretaker and agriculture do not work on weekends. Tomorrow will probably take place the test for the 9-seater pulmino, so sometimes mobility comes into our lives :-)
last Friday are Clemens, Adrian and I had broken from the Servizio-day weekend and my uncle drove near Catania! Since we are not for pleasure of course there are, we have rumgeschleppt on Saturday moving boxes (200m further into the new house). Gabs evening then fish and shrimp from the grill and a beer or two :-) - just not for me, because we had to go to the airport at 22:15 clock, guests pick up Adrian! With an oral Wegbeschreiung my uncle and the Italian having TomTom then we also made us to proceed properly, we camouflaged in hindsight as having planned sightseeing tour of Catania ... With typical Italian punctuality, we have the two picked up and this time actually taken the right way on the highway.
The people at home have not looked bad when we got home at 1:00 clock, at a distance you drive in 20 minutes:-D Sunday, there was again a barbecue party, by the way we have designed the armor, which I then returned to Riesi should go! Evening against 17 clock was then going on the trip! The highway from Catania to Palermo is up on a small piece in Enna very good, and so we were to just under 2 hours back to Riesi! Of course we still went out with our guests to our Hauptaktration-Piazza :-)
The next days will follow pictures ...
A Presto!

Curtain Rods 90 Degree Angle
News from the Servizio!
was yesterday's so far, the director has presented the first time before the assembled crew! As our Italian is not yet sufficient to understand a Sicilian, Angela has kindly translated his lecture. Although this relatively brief encounter was not so much designed for interactivity, it was informative and a few things could equally be understood (the VW bus can drive up to 2 people, they are then fully responsible for lead cleaning, book etc. ). Our main concern was the Saturday work, also to language-even if only from his side. We are divided into two groups, and will then work alternately every second Saturday. But we shall see more ... ;-)
The curious thing is in Sicily, one should not simply accept this, or believe. What was predicted in hindsight is no more. For example, we could already have desöfteren cabinets, chairs and benches in the school at the direction of Pepe the ground floor to then a few days later, at the direction of anyone else to bring them back to their original location. One might think that make on purpose .. Also, Clemens and I have already removed an entire closet in a building to be renovated, about the whole court in the first floor of the school, then dragged him to bring back and build up to his old place.
---> UPDATE: (!) 04:08:08 Today we have the same closet on the instructions of the teachers (who are now very busily prepare the school) back into the building, dismantle, take it up to school and then rebuild. Do I need to comment or not:-P
What is the work and much more is the solution of problems in the way of the fact that this will take no responsibility for, or seem to be able to make actual decisions constantly. Not only that, so everything is slowed down, the responsibility moves from has person to person to one of the shots. In our case, our director wants to be informed about everything that once controlled the week our common room and the kitchen in disarray, and I will soon enough to know, if we intend to use the bus. So far it looks like we here do not have much free space can also be just the first impression. As I said, nothing is as it seems ;-)
In any case, is the preliminary layout as follows: Adrian
in kindergarten, Anna and Laura (American a volunteer, arrived today) at school, Frank in the kitchen, John Giosana and a volunteer from Italy) help in the cleaning service with John feverishly his knowledge of Italian aufbessert to thereby participate in the kindergarten or school can ;-) and Clemens + I help with the Caretaker.
My work today is to pave the way for the Internet at school, with picks, Bosch hammer and shovel dug Pepe, Rosario, Luigi and I look across the courtyard from lantern to lantern to ultimately connect from the office (internet modem) to pave the school. Clemens and Adrian, however, have meanwhile the future premises of the two volunteers from South America to renovate, paint, repair walls, plaster. The school is being cleaned up completely next week is going to the school system! I 've already see some parents take their children to sign :-) All in all, it will be interesting for the next week!
Oh I've got some new pictures uploaded ...
