Poptropica Login Session Error?
Now is also a record before our Christmas vacation, go home to nearly all volunteers from 20:12 to 05:01 to Germany!
First: In the photo album can be found at shorter intervals, every now and then pictures from everyday life, excursions or for example, now the group photo showing all the volunteers and the director!
When I heard that home is snow, I could not believe it-when the sun shines you can get out of here go even now with the T-shirt, in the common room is a pair of trousers but pleasant and even now I sit in a sleeping bag in front of computer but at noon I'm usually in shorts while eating!
Just because the snow here can still coming, but that is not that we do not get the winter time feel-better, the rainy season. Throughout the summer, is a telling how hot it is to drink three times a day with cold water showers and 5-liter has all now turned into its opposite: It is a telling it not to rain stops, the current will always again from (record: 5 hours Riesi was quite dark, we drove through the city for fun and then still have the Coop supermarket emergency had to go shopping :-)
Frantically we see in such rainy days, people across the Servizio building next sprint. A couple of days it has even hailed the meantime. As much as the plant world benefits go hand in hand with serious problems with the continuous rain. This is what so many of us with water stains, mold and musty smell faced in his room, Adrian relates to this week's guest rooms one floor below (with a better bed and TV:-P).
The sad thing is that until the summer, a similar Water damage was taken as an opportunity to ask a company to repair the ceiling. This more-days brought the water-repellent Coating silver paint on all ceilings Servizios obviously not the desired effect.
Even our current project in the Caretaker, the huge cracks in the school flat roof working, every day. Engineers and structural engineers these days are permanent guests and we had to work last Saturday and Sunday to a temporary sloped roof over the cracked ceiling to make. In summer this is temporary and then away again to make the blanket properly-not the first time noticed. Let's see how our room after the two and half weeks holiday in Germany Find ...
You learn something almost every day here to-for example, how does the bee rearing us Pepe explained in detail in the basement of the Ufficio in which we brushed the bee boxes for next year with paint. He was home made and bee boxes, which are much better than here because they are homemade and not bought.
So I now know, for example, one family of bees costs about 100 € and you can sell a kilo of honey for about 6 €-organic honey, mind you, as the honey in the shop comes from bees that are treated with antibiotics as a precaution so that a large die absent. In such stories from his private life can be a little Insight into the mentality of the people here get the joy of domestic production and agriculture is predominantly in Riesi! So it's no surprise that so many (Pepe, Tano and Marco included) a small olive grove at home, has she parallel to the harvest time in the Servizio, at home or harvest a few € to earn extra in the pressing plant or for their own use.
A big change in the Servizio is initiated by us waste separation. Of course, separating the kitchen, we volunteer and daily cleaning team for a long time the garbage. However, the separated waste is then thrown into a common warehouse behind the kitchen, rest / organic waste into a trash can several times the week will be emptied. was to do
times as non-urgent Clemens and I began to clean up this Müllager and drive away the waste with our Manutention car. Pepe has shown me the day before the landfill outside the city and so we went there the first carry, the man took the black plastic bags for some to hesitate. The second was when we arrived he said, but we can unload this here non, he had become food debris and the like in the previous charge discovered and would not accept the rest. He gave us the hint, however, the garbage bins in several publicly positioned to scatter.
said than done, we distributed the Serviziomüll to 4 tons of large, we are at a distance of several hundred meters in the flash procedure completed. Once we caught a resident woman who swore at us loudly, and once we started to unload prematurely because several men on the opposite side of the street lined up ostensibly to observe. At the last ton of us was still a herd of goats on horseback against Schaefer, together with that blocked the whole road. Home and the garbage loszusein glad we started with the division of the depot in glass, paper and plastic!
nurnoch are now Zoran, Adrian and I regularly at the gym, and so we can organize together to be flexible to go there. Also, there have been two major joint Pizza-eating, even in the restaurant Pepe & Maurizia, which is quite close to the Servizio become one of our favorite restaurants. Not only because the family that has fuehr spent some time in Germany and therefore German speaking, no, partly because the Atmonsphaere true, it is not far away and really very delicious and cheap! The second dinner was held at the restaurant Charlie Brown that, as the restaurant Orchidea has been restored and where you can eat in a cozy atmosphere.
Most restaurants and bars in Riesi are we, after five months residence now known by us and visit us regularly, the owners and employees know us, as parents of children in our to school / nursery or young people go from the gym greet us on the road.
informed because we the last weekend night life but not in Riesis auserhalb, or have in Acireale Catania, or merely at home, we were even asked öffters why we can not see for more ;-) A few people from the fitness us that live bands play every Friday in the rock / Internet bar and Saturdays are all young and young at heart in the pick-up meet at the Piazza Bar. This tip followed Adrian, John and I last Saturday and were amazed at how many unknown faces we came in and before the pick-up bar! After the bartender with us wanted to move ball pyramid and a trick dice to a free round, we were once again last who left the scene (Incidentally, we have the Logikspielchen not have got done, but we do not give up and try the next time :-) It is observed always funny that the number of guests from 22 bis 0 clock in the climax is at once and is no longer there then-and at half 1!
Since 8:12 am was a public holiday (Mara Conception), we took advantage of the long weekend for us to arrange a meeting with the Pachinofreiwilligen in Catania! But according to the motto: Work hard, then pleasure, we helped my uncle in Acireale on Saturday morning wood for the to procure winter. It took us longer than expected but then, yet we also came after the barbecue did not want to let fly :-)
Ultimately, we went by train to Catania, Acireale and have Benni, Ann-Kathrin and Sarah Catania made. After a stroll through the Via Etnea, a Christmas-lit shopping mall, we gradually got the run around hungry and no-see-Christmas .. Near the Piazza del Duomo, we found an apparently small Mexican restaurant that surprised with a huge back room! Then it drove us to a jazz bar in the city, according to program plays a live band and really, in the middle Samstagnachtgetummel we discovered the small bar, in which, together with another band instruments had been forced. But even we had 8 is still room and have fun until the wee hours. Now the LG failed wiedermal than it should lead us out of town, we were still at home.
With the set of Benni "Why is the trunk door is not really-but I've been locked out" even the shock front was going to sleep. Someone had broken the bus from behind and stole the backpacks! Fortunately, the three had all the valuable things all day with him, anyway, the thieves are likely to throw away the clothes, which have after all their individual value.
on Sunday adopted we are of the three and went back to the woodwork, then we went home to Riesi!
the holiday we took advantage of the day with a trip to Syracuse, where we are 3 hours "untenrum" used to Gela, Modica and Rossolini have evening and then in under 2 hours "obenrum" of Catania, Caltanissetta were at home (compliment Clemens; -)
From Tuesday Clemens and John exchanged for one week the work area, Clemens was able to enjoy the daily lives of educators and the cleaning team while John had the time of probably the most stressful project to begin mending the school roof.
We spent the Christmas season in a Christmas mood, then For example, Frank made a wreath and around the downtown boxes are installed from the Christmas music is playing (more or less adjacent to noise, but that counts and it attracts more people into the streets). Also, colorful lights in crazy Blinkrythmen decorate the houses and restaurants!
So now I have to pack and clean up more room, next we go to the performance of school children and for Christmas dinner with all of the Legal In places together with family!
Ciao a Presto in Germania!

How To Draw A Playset
So, now it's time again! The month of November draws to a close and it's time to tell again, what's going on here in Sicily so!
Halloween!
in full swing Laura has brought the planning and execution of the Halloween party in our common room. She had a costume ready even for every .. It was a very nice evening, even Giusi, Silvia, Gianluca, Zoran and Kristian were there! More in the Photo Album ...
pranzo e guerra - Lunch is war
meantime we have come to terms with the fact that we know the lunch menu, which is to last until April next year, by heart. The fact that we can not eat with when cooked dinner for guests and the leftovers are thrown away rather than schonmal left us left is nothing new. What is new is that the austerity of the kitchen has assumed extreme proportions or was it just an oversight? In any case, we were having lunch with, such as 5 young Cos from Munster, which is part of the olive harvest workers group, had received nothing to eat. This may be remember that they arrived a little later or on the calculation of the chefs, who seem to count each noodle. Usually the food at Primo and Secondo Piatti Piatti is divided, so the food would have to make everyone satisfied. However, the Secondo often consists of a cheese plate or sometimes even the ham, which you can then refine his white bread.
is gratifying, however, the innovation that we have a budget get 100 € a month. With this money we can buy food to us, it's not in the kitchen is and we can use for cooking. compared with elsewhere in this budget is rather thin (Volunteers in La Noce in Palermo is available from € 250 not even half of the volunteers) but at least a start.
was also regulated the food supply from the storage room of the kitchen new, so far we had the opportunity to take once a week food too high in our common room. This problem is we now seem to no longer have credited the cooks and determine our needs now, put together by a box of food supplies for us. Whether and how this will work in men's exhibit at :-P
Update: The first shipment we have visited, but one example, 5 liters of milk and 15 eggs for 11 people in a week.
More Weather
A week before the olive harvest began in the rainy season, which is to say that from then on, every now and then let down during the day a little to heavy showers, often fresh in our washed laundry, we out to dry . hang out
We can literally watch the grass grow, where once there was only earth and sand, it spriest now and the inland region of Sicily is green! Of the region around Mount Etna, I am frankly not used to different, here is the rather burnt Riesi have been for specificity.
Otherwise wars until a week ago still so warm that I could walk around in a vest, shorts and slippers. Now, however, it is easier to switch to a sweater, long pants and socks. Our heating system is now running, our rooms are heated for 3 hours in the evening, when isolated, but rather a questionable endeavor.
Last night it was a pleasant 13 degrees as I have my say on the phone that it has at home, minus 6 degrees ;-)
Palermo weekend
the visit of John's sister, we took as a signal to the capital Sicily times closer look. On Friday evening we went wrong with the intercity bus from the Q8 station outside of Riesi to Palermo to the bus station! Another bus and walk a little further, we arrived at "La Noce" on, the partner institution of the Servizio Cristiano in which we can be volunteers free of charge. One of our volunteers, Lia, received us we could get our room. After dinner in the restaurant in 1001 (There was couscous with lamb), I was happy again Fernzusehn in our room, we do have a huge plasma TV in Riesi, but only with 3 programs. Accordingly, it is rarely used ...
Saturday noon gabs breakfast croissants and cafe around the corner, before we opened it, to visit the city. What we have seen it all, you can face See the photos!
After Marcos recommendation and approximate description of the location we were looking then in the evenings, the restaurant "deer". The German name gave us suspect to at least German food, if not to meet German speaking Sicilian, as we encountered in Riesi Restraurant in Nabucco. In the end, it was then "only" Italians have a pretty German decoration and name taken for their restaurant. We ordered us yet Weis beer (which of course can not be compared with the approach the home ;-) and 1 kg spaghetti carbonara for 4 people we fought and lost, there was something left .. On Sunday, there was
then again in Palermo Fast forward, equipped with a map from the information booth, we explored the western part of the city with its parks and attractions. In the evening we went back home by bus to Riesi.
intermediate seminar in Tuscany!
After our office but could not plan the trip / book, we took it in hand. More or less disorganized we booked 6 people together but not in groups. Clemens, Adrian and I decided to employ me, getting the connection in the Internet and to march into the travel agency. The travel agency in Riesi (no idea whether it is the only one) proved to be a room with a desk, two chairs and a few brochures. Behind the counter are entrenched two ladies who sat in front of computer screens.
My first doubts about the competence came on only when the nice lady had entered the third time the wrong departure times, where she has to get all the data we already wrote in a note. Our rescue was then a man who took care of our concerns. By phone and Skype, he communicated with a mysterious "Giusi1313" which he dictated the departure times (which, incidentally, were identical to those I had already found on the internet). Although he undoubtedly had the same Internet access, this woman had to look good all that concerned the trip. After an hour of back and forth, he promised us then for a deposit fee of 50 € to get the tickets tomorrow. My doubts whether all this is quite correct, were gone the next day, we had our tickets in the hands-the best example, as simple as something like a train reservation in Sicily works!
But this can be the title ('Siamo Umani, possiamo anche sbagliare') apply. "We are human and can make mistakes."
went on at 9 16:11:08 clock the train from Catania to Rome, where we missed the connecting train because we were late. We took a short hand for the next train to Empoli and ultimately caught the right train back to Chianti Monteriggioni-only station, the signs and sparsely sown Announcements were made entirely in short, we saw that we only have arrived when it was already too late and went on to a station Badesse, from where Boris us then came back for it :-)
The topics of the week, Immigration & integration of immigrants, the environment and conflict resolution. On Tuesday came the international volunteers have added, on Thursday morning they drove unfortunately returned to their / our bodies. That means we were 23 people + 8 for those days.
The daily schedule was rather more relaxed, at 8:30 gabs breakfast until the last were finished and had brought blankets for the cold conference room could start wars schonmal 9:30 until we. Afternoon, when the sun came out, we used the lawn outside the house in order to discuss the matters in question. We had to imagine the task of our bodies in front of the other volunteers, and we also were able to talk in small groups, each with a team of our situation on the spot with us Riesianern we went inevitably comes to food, for, as Zoran, who lives for over 12 years in the Servizio and our work has already said: just as now, was never saved on food.
were preparing on Wednesday we all get together before our interview questions with which we are now left on Thursday for our day trip to Siena, to inquire of passersby on Emigration. The rest of the day we were able to, I think, very spacious roads and large Building, together with the cathedral and other attractions to visit Siena. In the evening, we evaluated the results of the interviews to various groups and have made us a little insight about public opinion on the subject. (Can = Once you're born, you no longer hide you)
The film "Quando non puoi più nasconderti nato was"
gave us an idea on immigration: It describes how the boy a well-earning industrial sailing into the sea and is being picked up by a fishing boats full of immigrants from different countries. On his return to his father, he hopes that this adopted the boy from Romania and his sister, who had helped him on the boat. A week long
back to his room with many people sharing (up to size 13 rooms), discuss and learn together, cooking and eating together reminded a little of the initial seminar in Gianna Vella-but even if it was not the same. Everyone has done in these 4 months abroad, its own experience and to some extent shaped his personality. The initial euphoria can and uncertainty of the new force can not achieve, but that does not mean that one is not happy to see the others again and returns with a new motivation in his place to the rest of the time with new expectations and joy to look forward. On Friday we went
for Clemens, Adrian and I then go up 18 clock, along with the Palermo-volunteers. The three transfers ran smoothly, in Florence, we were able to visit during the waiting period, the better delivery Cathedral, located near the train station.
The ride home was spent in a sleeping compartment, but we were by 9 clock in the morning already awakened by a police control and shortly afterwards the Putzkollone came to us to steal the pillows and blankets. Past wars with sleep and so we got the 2 hour delay with significantly, apparently they had problems with on / unloading of the train from the ferry (Calabria / Messina).
had with our late Anna and John, then wait for us which are separately driven from Riesi Acireale with several buses from the daily grind for a day to escape and to get good food with my uncle and German Fernsehn:-D On Sunday afternoon we drove back home.
run after this week-long interruption in the work by our volunteers Servizio Cristiano is back, and especially in kindergarten, there are currently more or less exciting. As in 3 weeks and a performance of place with the children, already run the necessary preparations to get where the nursery volunteer a little variety. And escape is already 2 days after the so-called "Recital" We get cold Riesi into the even colder Germany to us about good food to spoil what is surely pleased all been endless!
Until then we enjoy the last weeks of the year here in Riesi - in anticipation of the holiday home!

Ap Biology Lab 8 Pre Lab
was envisioned that I would at a Junior High School, the specialist ICT (Information and Communication Technology), that computer teaching, teach. I had been to Germany made contact with another volunteer who has taught in Ghana at the same junior high school. He could give me a very good picture of the situation on the ground. Once in Ghana, I was told that I ought to go to another school, namely a Senior High School of Business. In the higher grades, the students are of legal age, and thus only slightly younger than me. You will tell me anyway respect as any other teacher. A white man gives you general information here, a little more attention and respect.
found on the first day at school instead of an overall teacher conference. They told me I should come by 8 clock. In the staff room I've talked with some teachers, to the Conference at 10:30 clock finally began. Fortunately, the conference was only in English and I could almost understand everything. Amusing to me was that honestly every 5 min in the room a cell phone rang and the person to make phone calls just left the room. Eventually, it was also the Head Master (Rector) too much and he asked that the phones the next time to put on silent. Ten seconds later rang his own Phone and he took the call even - the laugh was big. During the conference, he himself was called three or four times. discussed dealt with until all issues were durchzusprechenden, it withdrew, as always. Some teachers also went too long and they wrote messages with their mobile phones, exchanged numbers, or read newspapers. As you clock up 14 could finally find a point, there was at the expense of the school to eat something for everyone. After I clarified a few things with my contact person, I was allowed to go home. Thus ended my first "working day" ...
In the following days the first week it was no different. I came to school, talked a bit with the teachers and went on again two hours later. I was told that in the first week of a new school year, the timetable is constructed, and most students still are not at school. Therefore, the real lessons begin until the second week of school - in this case, it was only Thursday. In the meantime, there was a Department-meeting (a meeting of the fan network, which also includes ICT). To address was that the rector would actually provide more money for computers in the school. It was also discussed that many teachers have no money for training. Only one teacher was out of school for financial support. Every detail has been recorded and written by hand in a large book. For this reason, the meeting moved unnecessarily long. At the end of the number of teaching hours was announced. I was to teach 17 hours. Spread over five weekdays, which acts not much, but I would take over the entire graduating classes. These are compact their ICT hours on Thursdays and Fridays of the week. So I had in the first weeks of Monday through Wednesday off and for Thursdays and Fridays, eight hours. At my school there are between the hours of classes a break. Only between the 3rd and 4 and between the 7th and are 8 hour it a half-hour break. If so you have to go to the bathroom, has is a problem. The toilet is located at a 5 min walk from my classroom. I swapped
For a few hours with my ICT colleagues had and was able to straighten my schedule, I am relatively happy with my project.
- Of course the circumstances. Some things are going well here obviously wrong. The use of batons, even for students who are underage, as a theme. Legally it is forbidden, but that is adhered to as little as the correct speed limit in Germany. A major problem is the lack of materials. The seats in the classes are too small for the students. There are few textbooks for the students, and if there are any, they are of very poor quality
(the material and content). The lines in the exercise books of the students seem to be pulled by hand. The gap is even bigger, even smaller. Especially to my school subject is to say that there are far too few computers. Normally, each class should have two ICT lessons during the week. Because of the limited number of computers, the classes (50 students) divided into two parts and thus we are left with a lesson. Despite the breakdown in part of four students sitting in front of a computer. Not every class can have ICT lessons, because, first, the room overcrowding, and secondly there with me only four ICT teachers.
The only thing that makes me to create in the school, is for the students (repeat senior year) and bad English can not understand some simple instructions. I think they are often not clear from the type of teaching, as I believe him. They are used to being in the smallest detail vorkaut them all and they just copy copy / need. If you expect a little initiative, they are swamped. The curriculum includes a variety of applications with Word and Excel. Today I wanted them to create newspaper articles, columns in Word. For this purpose they should first create a text and to keep it simple, I left them a report write about any animal. After 15 minutes had some just the heading and a half set. This was certainly not due to a difficulty with the computer. Many have problems regardless of a user manual to make something.
A teacher showed me the exam papers of last year. They were all Multiplechois issues. So I was already clear that they are not used to write my own text. The teachers just need a better education. At a Senior High School at least they are studying. The teachers at a junior high school are graduates of senior high school, without additional training.
Outside of teaching you will receive in school quite nice. The teachers meet in their free time usually under a large tree in the schoolyard. The bench under the tree is nearly always. Not that the teachers had as many free hours. In Ghana, the teacher every day but go to school, even if they did not have classes in one day. If another teacher is not there, they take lessons. Only some teachers have a part time job and work on their days elsewhere. Especially the teachers at a junior high school earn very little and have to feed this need for a family. They earn as much as I by my organization as "pocket money" to get ...

If you get into the city center seems to look like every corner, for every five yards is a state of similar sold. The only major orientation haunted are the gas stations. Here are the transportation hub, where it has the only traffic lights in the city. The buildings are going through almost one story and they do not differ much from each other. Man sets is not much value to the external appearance of a house. Many shops can be found only by chance, as they often have no duties to name tags. There is rarely a real general store. Typical items are either dresses, fabric, household items or food stalls. For dining, there are usually fried in fat yam or potato pieces with a chalice schafer sauce. If you want something better, you also get rice with stew (brown sauce and fish) or different fruit What I first noticed recently is that it's considered bad manners when you eat on the run. In that sense, I've been here often behaved badly. But in Ghana are certain behaviors for us Europeans "strange" to say the least ...
By the time you are immunized against the constant shouts of the people when a road running down. In order not to seem rude, I got used short wave, which is not too tiring to constantly repeat it. If you investigate each one makes cries himself only problems. Every little small talk and makes connecting to a quasi-boyfriend. The next time you meet the person, will only turn up right, that greets you and leads a discussion. Is this the 10 people on the morning commute, one can have the very annoying. I can understand the Ghanaians to this behavior already. It is firstly to their mentality very open and friendly to be. Second, it must be very boring to stand all the time in a stand and to wait for a customer. In addition, there is something special to have a white person as a friend.
However, not even a small talk is targeted and the first words "Give me money" or "coins" (coins) are still by my side from the (not too strenuous, short) wave.
But you need a self-help, you can really ask anybody on the road running around people. If you want to buy something, one is also liked to show the way where you can buy it. One day I was shaving powder (~ Rasierpuder) and asked to buy a booth, where there would be this. Faster than I could see, the seller ran away and brought me a can it. The crux of this kindness was that he wanted to sell it to me four times the price.
Although the city is rather small, the streets from morning to evening full of cars and people. Private cars are barely visible, but many taxis and Trotros. The Trotros means of transport for some longer distances and are of size comparable to a minivan. One enters through a side door and sits at fourth in a row (although the place is normally meant only for 3 people). Beside the door is the "mate" who cares about the money. At some point during the trip will be paid and if it has not fit, you get the latest when getting his change back. Only in larger excursions, for example, in the capital will get a hand-written ticket, which must be paid before the trip. In general, driving a los Trotro until it is full. This may take from time to time just two hours. Another problem is if you want to travel in larger groups. Until you find a car, for example, has six seats free, just might take a while. The waiting time until a Trotro drives off, amounts to a shorter but before than it is. Through the windows of a water bag, bread, sweets and be sold from time to handkerchiefs. Often you come up with some interesting Ghanaians in conversation, which had been to the U.S. or Europe. You can tell the people also said that they tell not only simply to get attention. With them you can have a good time on policy issues in Ghana. When it finally starts, be to the taxi, people stopped and recorded. The side door seems to always be claimed by a lot because they are in many Trotros not close properly and must be of material recorded. One last sentence to the Trotros: The trips are very uncomfortable, because it is quite shaken, has no leg room and has a permanent smell of exhaust fumes in the nose. In my case I can not even enjoy the scenery, I too big and I am therefore not much can look out the window.
The appearance of the city center at night is very different. Although the streets are still full and honking taxis clog the streets, there is a different atmosphere. There are no street lights, so every class is equipped with a type of candle. The air has hardly cooled, but there is no sun, it is compared to the day, pleasantly warm. Since so many people on the streets are on the road, you need to not be robbed fear. Only at night to go home alone should be avoided, since outside of the center and fewer people on the streets and you see nothing without a flashlight can. Not to be neglected are the mosquitoes that are active at night. I had until now no malaria, but gradually it meets any one time.
The description of my town you can actually be transferred to almost any other city in the southern part of Ghana. There are no real places in a city that stand out, except a few old relics of the colonial period, on the coast.

Java Swing Image Movement
times I put a short summary in the blog, what is going on here:
Autumn is in big steps and does most noticeable in the misty cold mornings. With the sweater and long pants I usually go out of the house, the T-shirt and rolled up legs I call it a day :-) One of our current projects, to paint the roof of the office, as it has done every year. Just stupid, that we started with the wrong color (black), and Pepe then noticed that it ought to be silver. The next day we painted the ceiling then in half again in the original silver color but we went from the color and we started the weekend :-) Before that, we still have profesores made watertight with a tarpaulin my car for the weekend-to-time rains increasingly often, what our olive trees and the whole plant life here comes in the more arid interior to very good.
The olive harvest awaits us, about 1800 trees to be harvested. With the almond harvesting in August, we were 8 people for about 850 trees, but now we get reinforcement that we are eagerly awaiting. This weekend, scores from a troupe of helpers Switzerland, one led by the director of last year, Elisabeth. Detachment of the 12 then the next group of 20 people Mr. Overkamp.
The work schedules were adjusted for one or another of the daily routine has changed again, generally for the better. Here you can see that much is new and the Directorate has to familiarize himself. When we are at the beginning also been skeptical on the other hand, I must say from my side, I developed through discussions and approaches a certain respect for the Directorate.
Be a few days are determined, the official "winner" of the pulmino tests: Clemens and Frank have been under the 5 drivers beat the best. On Friday we explored
a new bar near our gym, and made many Italian acquaintances!
Yesterday (Saturday) we all have together prepared a meal for our guests from Switzerland, pictures speak louder than words to spare and my writing:-D
Today (Sunday) we were in Agrigento and have looked at the temple complex are running around in the city were forced to find food from a host in his overpriced restaurant food, there are now and then drank coffee shop, back home Sebastian's birthday present prepared, prepared food and are just at the party :-)
Our Journey to the intermediate seminar is fast approaching, the secretary Angela takes us from planning the larger part, the Servizio even stretches out the travel expenses! be reached so easily is not the place apparently, from what I experienced yesterday, we have to take the bus to Palermo, from there we fly with Ryanair to Pisa, from there with various trains and buses to our final destination: Chianti, Monteriggioni in Florence. We are looking forward again at the other Italy / Sicily Volunteer!
As far as the latest from here, next time plays a more contiguous test
:-) Ciao a presto!

How To Do Extensions On White Hair
In front of our house is a small vegetable garden, where my family grows a few plants. Furthermore, We have two small Hünerställe. In one European are chickens that are let out, almost never. They told me that they are taking when they eat the dirt lying around. In the second chicken coop, African chicken, which accounts for nothing. The valves are almost always run around outside. Now and then they quarrel and chase each other around the house. If the dog is still interfering with the chaos is perfect. After such an action is the floor full of feathers and droppings. But since being swept every morning, is not that bad. To sweep the way, a bundle of branches of a plant is used. Depending on the use of the broom is put together or spread out. He is only 50 cm long, you have to bend down quite far already. At least one has thus a good morning exercise.
In my neighborhood, my neighborhood, is compared to the city center very quiet. It is a development area, are the numerous shells. Since in Ghana are almost no state-sponsored housing initiatives, to build it themselves, and indeed, in the truest sense of the word, piece by piece. At the beginning you buy first stone. If, again, a little money is available, you can build a small part of the foundation, etc. Thus, a design attracts usually over many years. For this reason, I suppose that in the 12 months that we will stay here not much will change. We will see ...
20 years ago was in this area, dense forest was untouched. By population growth and associated urban development, a lot of burning took place. Today there are only a few bushes and trees palmenatige, but they are not much bigger than I. So it is here quite clear.
To reach the city, you must pass a few narrow trails, let the many "house ruins" behind and finally comes to a slightly greater distance. This will take you pass the Unique Senior High School, in his students, I am already well known. I try always go by unnoticed, but what works almost never. After a bit of small talk can go on one again. The students have already accepted the fact that they get from me no phone number and I do not usually want to stay long with them. Only a few steps you have a wide view, down the road that leads to the center after Swedru. On this street, which paved the way, is relatively good, you have to take only the possibility of a taxi, or walk. bring the road to walk behind him, would take about three quarters of an hour, and in light of some very hot sun is already the cab comfortable. The taxi drivers here, you can also not compare with that in Germany. It is the normal means of transport for shorter rod and can rather be compared to bus travel. The price for a ride into town is 35 pesewas (22 cents). The taxis are almost all Asian small cars because they are much cheaper than European cars. Despite the narrow interior, driving in extreme cases up to 6 people - not the driver in the calculation. Buckle up is just not on, but not general practice.
While driving people constantly are sold or collected. If a person is standing on the roadside and the driver is treated as a potential passenger, he stretched out his hand and honk a few times. Will this person also ride really, it also raises his hand. If the taxi is actually full, it goes faster. The drivers are not afraid to overtake. Rather, they are constantly trying and often create a dangerous traffic situation. At least is when overtaking and honking. We can already see, a horn in a car is more important than a seat belt.
In the next blog post I tell you a little about life in the city.
My Testical Hurts Up In Stomach
Life in the house I have already described, but somewhat incomplete. Did I mention
that we have running water and electricity? Well, the radio and television, of which I written, but failed to conduct electricity is hard. I would have said only once.
It's nice that the water for showering does not need to get from a well. Only now and we need to fill the two large 100-liter barrels in the kitchen and get to buckets of water from the water in front of the house. Until now we had only four days without water and even a brief power outages. The power supply in Ghana is covered almost entirely by the hydropower plants on the Volta lake. Since we currently have the rainy season, enough water is present. In the dry season, which lasts roughly from November to February, water and electricity outages occur more frequently. But it is not so, that in the rainy season rains every day - sometimes twice a week. This is almost always a dense cloud cover in the sky. The temperature is constant between 23-28 ° C. In the dry season it is wiedrum blue sky from morning to night and have really hot. So much about ...
A few other little things that affect you but in daily life in the family, I have not mentioned. An unusual event is that it is in the house are not hanging mirror. To shave, take a small hand mirror and goes to the house. Most Ghanaians have a very modest growth of beard, so they probably do not use shaving cream. I use at least a little soap and go for shaving in the bathroom or in the shower. There, I hang the mirror on a nail in the door, which at first was not so easy. The first problem was that the nail is too thick the mirror for the eye. So I used a defective headphone cable to make a loop. The second problem was that the nail was bent and eventually fell out. Since puts a new nail in the door, manages the shave.
Another striking feature in the budget relates to this time not the bathroom but the toilet. You throw the toilet paper that is not in the bathroom but in a small bucket next to it - and make it clear to make small and large businesses. The reason for this is the sewage system, which is not blocked by toilet paper probably can withstand. The paper in the bin is emptied from time to time and thrown into a trough behind the house. There it is burned with the rest of the household garbage. There are generally no garbage collection, and even in the city is found only very rarely a dustbin.
Certain things have changed compared to the beginning, too. At the beginning I found the noise extremely disturbing, now I have a little used to it. This may be because I broke the malaria prophylaxis and I therefore tend to be slightly fitter feel. Even the strict Fishy smell in the kitchen I guess was not so much. Other new additions, however, is a pungent musty smell of our room. It is difficult to describe him. It is certainly unpleasant. Since it was not so hot in recent days, we had the most fan of. Therefore, the air is in the room and I think that the smell comes from the clothes in garment bags. Perhaps also on the pillow of my host brother, which he used without the cover and even slightly moldy look.
have in one of my previous blog entries I wrote, that everyday life in the family will probably be different when school starts. There have, however, changed a few things. In the morning the family goes almost simultaneously out of the house (to Shortly after seven). My host sisters and my host father come between 15 und 16 clock back, the mother usually a few hours later. While they are away from home, the TV is of course - the radio, however, as the grandparents are still there. For this reason, it has never really completely at home in peace. Not even at night. My host brothers and sisters are often used in order to learn. And that same night by 3 or 4 clock. I like this but usually gets little or nothing with, because the TV (which will run alongside) to be set on silent or very quiet. From what one is more aroused when the host mother sometimes leaves the house at night to go to Accra. This wakes her namely My host brother, who opens for them the three castles on the screen in front of the door and has to close behind her. This is but thankfully only once a week.
The number of housemates in the house has now also increases. In a free room I had before noticed it did not really, two teachers have moved. They work in the nearby Swedru Secondary School, which is why it is beneficial for them, here to rent a room. They are about about 30 years old and it's always nice to to talk to them. Unfortunately, they are very busy and they rarely get to see.
How I learned the other day I will be in October, a further move into the White family. This was apparently planned for a long time but I have noticed only by chance. What they do not even exactly when in October he will join us and what country he comes from. They only know that he comes from a English-speaking - probably England or Australia. My host brother will soon be living in the school dormitory. Thus, the other white will draw instead of my host brother to my room. If we have the room for us, hopefully we can redecorate a bit and reduce the clutter something ...

Home Decorations Croscill Pattern
7:00 Clock I get up, make me ready
7:30 clock breakfast with other "early birds" (mostly Clemens, Sebastian, Anna) bind
8:00 clock shoes, fetch water from the fridge and go! But more and piano piano ...
work from 8:00 to 12:00 and I either Clemens or together with Rosario / Luigi / Pepe. With an investment in the order of the Servizio Cristiano is there to do just always something-sometimes we find ourselves already, even when thinking about how we could improve things here and there. The nice thing is you can see the result of his work day after day, no matter in what area.
from 12:00 to 14:00, we have both lunch break, after the meal at 0:30, we usually sleep :-)
from 14:00 to 17:00 we start again, after that evening!
[Clemens' and my current "project" is to be wearing a Riessen rubble pile behind the school with a shovel, wheelbarrow and Ape, by the way we renovate nor the room for Laura]
will from now on once a week a discussion with our Director place where we can voice our concerns. We also get Italian lessons twice a week, our schedule is filling up gradually :-)
Especially because we have thanks to Zoran finally found the Palestra (gym). It is not particularly large, but pretty much all devices are available, which I also am used to from home. Zo has practically a whole group organized by one or two days running around in the Servizio and the word "Palestra" has heard at least 5 times. So it happens that we TRACE in the group ride / or employees from the Servizio hits the spot. Otherwise
soon as an official trip to Servizio Cristiano to Siracusa, on whom we are all looking forward! We have not seen much of the island, but now that the Plaza is not as busy as in August / September so we can concentrate on the discovery of the island Pullminoschein Vorrausgesetzt. The two of us probably do next Week.
otherwise there not much new .. I will soon make again pictures online!

How Long Do I Serve In The Military
Friday, 19/09/2008
seat level with Adrian and Clement in the suburban of Riesi to Palermo and thought I could again tell what's going on here with me so! First: We are on the way to the airport in Palermo, is whether we actually arrive there from the previous two transfers from time :-)
Our trip to Germany has 19 to 25, the Oktoberfest the goal, but also serves to do a few things to. With a lot of the pain of parting we leave the other volunteers in the Servizio and make our way to Munich! Pour over our weekend will soon NEN journal :-)
The last two weeks have been quite Surrender, we were a couple of times at sea, most of the time at Grotto beach, which we have found by Zoran! Unfortunately, the swimming time is now probably over, the temperatures are from one another on the week
down rabid, in a day have been raining.
only good that we had not been essential to the pulmino / are
because that is denied us still! First, turn the lags of the Director the first few weeks not at Dawar and the instructions and problems were handled by telephone, after which no date was the "driving test" with Giuseppe to make, at long last, the director used the pulmino as leverage to bring us to the common room to clean:-D In a mysterious way, he knows that is who we obem Cleans and who is not ... A note on the fridge announced: "He who does not dressing must not make the test drive the VW bus." We will see where it is all leading.
But we came up with the Jeep now everywhere-hard Madonna in Gela, stand, shopping in Mazzerino ...
Last Wednesday we had to say goodbye to Eva and Henni, it was a very fun week with you! Some pictures speak for themselves!
The work here is still a lot of fun, along with Pepe, and Luigi Rosario we renovate room for future volunteers remove anything in the Servizio and draw the DSL / phone lines back and forth on the site :-)
But we had of course the phone line a few days later exchange again because it did not work ..
But the second time everything works better. By Pepe's wisdom we will never get bored, and we learn every day a little more Italian. Working in the Caretaker is associated with physical work, there remains room
enough to bring his ideas and to expend creative, even if it's only when painting the wall or Wegmeiseln of old plaster is :-) We are also often on and Servizio go around, so you can at the André volunteers auchmal Working watch or drink a coffee here and there.

Again "at home"!
After 6 days at home in Germany Clemens, Adrian and I arrived back in Riesi. Each of us has attempted in the few days to meet friends and family to take care of organizational or simply to just be home :-) From the entry onto the bus stop at unofficial Q8 in Riesi to check in at the Palermo airport our trip went smoothly frightening. Friday we went for a relatively snack with beer to bed early, we wanted to be fit for `s Weißwurscht breakfast the next morning! Many thanks again for this
`s numerous appearance tell others that we meet, you got me to look again!
were strengthened with Weißwürscht beer and we went to Munich to 2, from 5, we grab a table in Sausalito, it was worth up to 21-clock gabs delicious food and happy hour cocktails. As could be lumpy and not too Adrian
benefitting the Klofrau by his Klogängen. But the Dyson hand dryer can jump schonmal about 8 €, right?
After we had found Clemens uncle and his sister along with girlfriend, we went from the meeting place for the next day: 7:30 clock in front of the Augustiner tent!
did I! The eat a pretzel on the train, Andren prefer the liquid meal à la Bright:-D After waiting an hour in front of the tent, we get a good table and pour our short stay with precious fabric, chicken, pork Brotn, pork. At half past 4, we break up then, finally, we want to exploit the next day full-time is precious in few days!
On Thursday gabs then meet again at the airport a short shock still lying down in front: Only a miserable long traffic jam on the A8 direction Munich,
then managed the car of my friend just in the garage of the airport. A call to the ADAC then defused the situation, half an hour before I had to
through the security check the yellow angel came and took care of the vehicle. A tip here: do not buy you Peugot
!
The flight went well, we had to wait an hour to Zoran and his friend picked us up in nem small Fiat. One can imagine
as we have forced us inside with our suitcases, but not enough: Zoran still would like to briefly visit someone in Palermo!
no problem for us, but nobody knows really where we hinmüssen, chat with people on the road leads us through all of Palermo. Eventually
then we wake up with third-degree sprains in Riesi and bursting out of the small car, but still: Get Thanks Zoran for!
Today was like a volcano from the new information- Volunteers from Spain is here, she is the cousin of director and is 4 months;
we can not still do the test for the pulmino, ie we are until further limited in our mobility. Furthermore, it is rumored that the director
will send home two people. This is the couscous festival in Trapani also probably nothing and the American volunteers
is coming tomorrow. Oh Adrian Clemens and cut straight to crown himself the hair, we want to eventually be chic if we go straight to
food :-)
That's from Riesi, we horn back soon!
PS: The images should speak for themselves ;-)

Cheap Tennessee Titan Pullover
In Ghana it has three main meals a day. Breakfast consists mostly of white bread and tea. Sometimes there are oatmeal or rice porridge with sugar and milk powder. have lunch and dinner there for like "heavy food" (~ hearty meal) as my host mother always says proudly. This usually consists of a hot red sauce with fish or shrimp and you much carbohydrate (yam, coco-yam, plantain, rice or fufu). The sauce is usually a little watery, as small a pot for only about 3. Tomatoes, 2 hot kl. Peppers, small second Onions, oil and water are used. Ate it as follows: Take the RIGHT hand, the "carbs", dips it in the sauce and eat. The left hand is taboo, and for other activities such as an object to offer them. Vegetables and fruits are only rare because it is very expensive for the locals. My favorite food is Red-Red. They are fried in palm oil, plantains with a bean sauce. For this one uses more mature plantains, which thereby get a sweet taste (usually rather salty). Sweet food is eaten very little. Chocolate is unfortunately also very expensive. Until now I've just bought a board. Nevertheless, I have already determined this diet 1-2 kilos risen, because to do sports is also unusual.
at the table manners in the house one must also get used to something. Man eats loudly and quickly.
My host brother says the often, that I should eat more quickly, although I usually eat at a relatively fast.
103 Fever Sore Throat Chills Lower Back Pain
After a few days I had already settled in well. I have the advice of Henry (the Project Manager) seriously. At the orientation seminar from the beginning, he always said, namely: "The three most important things are, communication, communication and communication"
The communication was at first a little heavier, but it has improved. The Ghanaians have English as an official language, but with a strange accent. For example, they pronounce the word "ask" them as "aks" and the "th" in English is like a hard 'T' pronounced. In addition, they translate many phrases in their local languages out what is not proper English. Also unusual was that a question first of all an "OK" comes the answer. I often thought they did not understand me. Thus, it was initially hard to know what they mean. Some normal English expressions are strange to them again. I want to generalize it, but in my host family there is at least.
Otherwise they are very nice, responsive to my interest in the culture and explain to me often like something. My host brother showed me the first day of the city (Swedru) and helped me to focus. Currently is the holiday season, so is do not yet have the regulated life. work until the beginning of the school, my host mother must get longer, because more materials are sold. My host father is also no longer sit all day in front of his radio and my host brothers and sisters can not watch TV that much.
However, each has its particular role in the family. My host father is the master of the situation. My host sister has to wash all the dishes in the morning the previous day and often help with cooking. My host mother is generally responsible for cooking. My host brother in the morning sweeps the whole house and wash the clothes with her sister (on Wednesdays and Saturdays). I now share the duties with my brother.
My host brother was immediately agreed that I sweep with him in the morning, but my host mother would not let me to start washing. She had the idea that the skin of a white man is not as arduous as more vulnerable than that of a black man. Also, as we once were in town and it came to carry the heavy shopping, they refused me to take it to her. My hands would go broke, so she thought. I think it needs a little time to convince them otherwise.
The hygiene in the house is in order. Insects occurred to me until now none under. Only very small, barely noticeable red ants crawling around. That there are few insects is probably due to that regularly poison is sprayed. My host brother told me that a few times a year, spray all the rooms. Apparently this is also done in the area outside the apartment to destroy the mosquitoes. In the apartment itself might be something more order prevail. Clothes are usually stored in large bags or on the floor. Also in the kitchen, there are no shelves and it's all on the floor (in the corners). Since I share the room with my host brother, I do not have much space to spread out and so are my clothes still in my suitcases. My bed is a little uncomfortable but at least long enough. For the mosquito net over my bed, I wanted a particular design To build the network that I can remove easily during the day. Unfortunately, in the only "supermarket" in the city, the lines and hooks, which I do it, sold out - maybe I'll get back next week which ...
something is disturbing the continuous noise in and around the house. The radio is on from morning until night at 5:30 clock clock by 22 - and at full volume. If at least would run fine music, it might be more tolerable. The station is a news and sports channels and so constantly is just loud jabbering in their local language. During the meal, or generally from 15 clock is still on the TV. To to understand something, the volume is set Läuter than the radio. For this reason, I usually pull me back to my room because there is minimal, but a little quieter.
Since the residential area in which we live is still relatively new, there are very few street lights. Why my host mother that I always before dark'm home (17 clock). The lighting is generally anywhere from a little sparse. The windows in the house let by very little light, so you have to read almost always turn on the light. The lamps are, unfortunately, only 9 W bulbs, so you find yourself constantly in a blue dim light.

Using Louana Coconut Oil On Hair
On Monday we should finally be brought to our host families. Kwesi had the day before departing again. Thus, organized Jojo the rest He woke us up in the morning at 7 clock, as he had to do in the city a bit and gained equal our foam mats on which we had slept a. He wanted them away at the same occasion. At 9 clock he wanted to be back. The driver of the car and a friend stayed still there.
As Jojo by 12 clock still was not there, we asked the driver to call him. Jojo was still in town and said that he still needs at least an hour. So we request the driver has driven into town to go eat something. Since you have advised us Now the food stalls at the beginning of something, we went to a pizzeria. It was quite expensive, but that was the moment we care because we were hungry. When we got back just 14 clock, Jojo was still not there. He finally picked us up by 16 clock. Time plays no role in Ghana.
After a brief stop at Jojo's house, in the center of Agona Swedru, we were successively brought to our host families. It was already dark and needed by some very bad weather road for a hundred yards we min approximately 5. The huge potholes in the unpaved roads ensured that we were pretty shaken. Luckily the car was not too low, otherwise I would have hit my head constantly.
I was sold already as the second. The family received me very nicely. I brought my things into the house and they gave me something to eat. There was again Yam with a sauce with fish. The request, if I want to use a spoon, I said no, because I wanted to play from the start no extra role. Very few meals are eaten in Africa, with cutlery. In the living room they had a plastic table, they brought me the food. When I began to eat, I was suddenly alone in the room. Only the television kept me company. I think they let me eat out of politeness alone. When I was finished, they were at least back to everyone and I were the family members of the family presented Nkrumah.
The mother is Eunice (42 years). It is fabric seller on the market in Swedru. The father, Kwesi (42), is a teacher at a Secondary School. My host sister (13) is called Abena and my host brother (15), with whom I share my room is, well Kwesi. The grandparents (father) live in the house and called Esi (grandmother) and again Kwesi (grandfather). The name of the given names based on the date on which it is born. Since I was born on a Saturday is my first name Ghanaian Kwame. I will now "Kwame Nkrumah" called. Funny thing is that the resistance fighters and later President of Ghana, even so called. Thus, the people always laugh when I introduce myself as Kwame Nkrumah.
When they had taught me the most important Ghanaian customs and a few words in Fanti (local language), they had me like their wide selection show on television.
Indeed, there are four stations. There GTV (Ghana TV), Metro (sports broadcaster), TV3 (entertainment) and TVAfrica (only African films). Often the picture is bad but usually also the content. Specifically, African films, which loves my host mother, are just bad Soups. It is mostly about family problems, or simple Erbgeschichten hostilities within the family. Comedies, are action or romantic films are not really.
After I came in the favor of the African television, it was getting late and time to go to bed. The first night I slept without a mosquito net, as in the house all the windows and doors were equipped with mosquito nets and I was assured the family that there were no mosquitoes.

Is My Scorpio Man Losing Interest
Today was for each of the first official working day! -Of course we were not idle in front! (Well some more or less already:-P) Today is the schedule that we have received from the director (I'll photograph the most confusing times). While Clemens and I Mon-Fri from 8 - 12 and 14 - work 17 clock with the caretaker, the schedules of others are a bit more versatile (the country economic plan looks the same, partly in order to catch the 7). The theme of Saturday work is done, at least for 4 of us completely, because the caretaker and agriculture do not work on weekends. Tomorrow will probably take place the test for the 9-seater pulmino, so sometimes mobility comes into our lives :-)
last Friday are Clemens, Adrian and I had broken from the Servizio-day weekend and my uncle drove near Catania! Since we are not for pleasure of course there are, we have rumgeschleppt on Saturday moving boxes (200m further into the new house). Gabs evening then fish and shrimp from the grill and a beer or two :-) - just not for me, because we had to go to the airport at 22:15 clock, guests pick up Adrian! With an oral Wegbeschreiung my uncle and the Italian having TomTom then we also made us to proceed properly, we camouflaged in hindsight as having planned sightseeing tour of Catania ... With typical Italian punctuality, we have the two picked up and this time actually taken the right way on the highway.
The people at home have not looked bad when we got home at 1:00 clock, at a distance you drive in 20 minutes:-D Sunday, there was again a barbecue party, by the way we have designed the armor, which I then returned to Riesi should go! Evening against 17 clock was then going on the trip! The highway from Catania to Palermo is up on a small piece in Enna very good, and so we were to just under 2 hours back to Riesi! Of course we still went out with our guests to our Hauptaktration-Piazza :-)
The next days will follow pictures ...
A Presto!

Curtain Rods 90 Degree Angle
News from the Servizio!
was yesterday's so far, the director has presented the first time before the assembled crew! As our Italian is not yet sufficient to understand a Sicilian, Angela has kindly translated his lecture. Although this relatively brief encounter was not so much designed for interactivity, it was informative and a few things could equally be understood (the VW bus can drive up to 2 people, they are then fully responsible for lead cleaning, book etc. ). Our main concern was the Saturday work, also to language-even if only from his side. We are divided into two groups, and will then work alternately every second Saturday. But we shall see more ... ;-)
The curious thing is in Sicily, one should not simply accept this, or believe. What was predicted in hindsight is no more. For example, we could already have desöfteren cabinets, chairs and benches in the school at the direction of Pepe the ground floor to then a few days later, at the direction of anyone else to bring them back to their original location. One might think that make on purpose .. Also, Clemens and I have already removed an entire closet in a building to be renovated, about the whole court in the first floor of the school, then dragged him to bring back and build up to his old place.
---> UPDATE: (!) 04:08:08 Today we have the same closet on the instructions of the teachers (who are now very busily prepare the school) back into the building, dismantle, take it up to school and then rebuild. Do I need to comment or not:-P
What is the work and much more is the solution of problems in the way of the fact that this will take no responsibility for, or seem to be able to make actual decisions constantly. Not only that, so everything is slowed down, the responsibility moves from has person to person to one of the shots. In our case, our director wants to be informed about everything that once controlled the week our common room and the kitchen in disarray, and I will soon enough to know, if we intend to use the bus. So far it looks like we here do not have much free space can also be just the first impression. As I said, nothing is as it seems ;-)
In any case, is the preliminary layout as follows: Adrian
in kindergarten, Anna and Laura (American a volunteer, arrived today) at school, Frank in the kitchen, John Giosana and a volunteer from Italy) help in the cleaning service with John feverishly his knowledge of Italian aufbessert to thereby participate in the kindergarten or school can ;-) and Clemens + I help with the Caretaker.
My work today is to pave the way for the Internet at school, with picks, Bosch hammer and shovel dug Pepe, Rosario, Luigi and I look across the courtyard from lantern to lantern to ultimately connect from the office (internet modem) to pave the school. Clemens and Adrian, however, have meanwhile the future premises of the two volunteers from South America to renovate, paint, repair walls, plaster. The school is being cleaned up completely next week is going to the school system! I 've already see some parents take their children to sign :-) All in all, it will be interesting for the next week!
Oh I've got some new pictures uploaded ...

Torre Pellice / Gianna Vella
Saturday, 13/08/2008
first come ... chooses first from the room! There were two houses with one room for a total of 23 4,5,6,8 he volunteers.
had in the 3 weeks stay in Gianna Vella we have much to celebrate, including 3 birthdays :-)
Even if you're away from civilization located in the mountains, there are 3 beautiful weeks in which we came to know each other better and new friendships were close! The program consisted of Italian lessons in the mornings from Monday to Friday, in the afternoon, the cultural program designed quite varied with discussion groups, lectures about the places
and Italy in general, etc. Even a trip to Turin and the mountains of Torre Pellice it. In the rest of the time we were able to swim Tumpi (a dammed river in Torre) or daily drinking :-) Internet Cafe, we have obtained via WLAN in the streets Torres-what over 20 people, armed with laptops hardly notice ;-)
were quick then the Italian pre-paid phone card purchased. While the volunteers
Italy with TIM are well advised, is probably the better choice for WIND the Sicilians. Let
not kidding you-the wind maps can very well buy without Torre Codice Fiscale, just few meters away from the e-Punto. During the three weeks gabs some high-lights such as a full-day water fight, a horse and a donkey or in front of our museum (Gianavella is also an attraction for Waldenses from around the world). Then There Were there any monitored the-painted-completely-on-and-no-wills-was-his-tag
etc etc..
On Friday and Saturday it hies then take leave of the Torre and Florenzfreiwilligen what is left over us Sicilians was not easy. Keywords: Saturday depression with Donnie Darko (insider)
On Sunday we went For us it for now going on!
Sunday 12:30 train to Pinerolo, then train to Turin to Genoa by train, bus ride to the harbor, walk to the wrong ferry, march to the right ferry, run!
It was for us 14 volunteers Sicily 3 rooms with 4 beds and 2 chairs. To say, perhaps, that could smear on Sunday every two rolls for the trip to Palermo, which is of course not enough in 20 hours journey from Genoa to Palermo .. But who wants to complain because we have brought
the biscuits eaten on Monday morning. A tip for future volunteers: bring enough water on the ferry you can with 0.5 liters of water poor drink.
18:00 clock arrival at the port of Palermo, because none of us pick up ... After some rumtelefonieren then a man came with the NEM van loaded up our luggage and us has said spongy, where the next bus to the center of La Noce (where we will spend the night) driving. After about half an hour, the bus driver calls again and tells us he passed us off but present.
Arrived at the future site of the Palermo-volunteers are expected in a note to the German construction status will arrive the next morning in the office, dinner or a contact person no trace. After a purchased pizza we went to bed exhausted, luggage for a whole year Time supervising carry around and makes finally tired ;-)
I at least could not sleep, it was sauheis and loud. The chase continued on the next morning, a new note awaited us at the office, the staff did not seem much more mysterious than the slip of paper. Whoever had written it was not there. There we hies to the station, and get the
Riesianer then off at Kuwait and the Pachino Palermo and volunteers at the bus stop Vittoria.
This should be said that we Riesifreiwilligen same on Wednesday started with our 7-hour working day during the camp-Adelfia seaside holiday mini work on more than 3 hours daily duties (no offense, I
Grant that you just do not:-P)
arrival at Q8 (aka Kuwait)
trip After almost 2 hours in the overcrowded bus (your luggage has by far not fit in the trunk, we had the top half of a double decker bus) we finally arrived at the station Q8. We realized then
the first time the wit of us to pursue here-Q8 had sounds in English, too much like Kuwait:-P.
Here we were received by Angela, the secretary of the office together with Pepe, the caretaker. Since it hies goodbye to the Palermo/Pachino-
people. But in Sicily it's not from the world of Riesi, it only takes about 2 hours in Palermo and in about 3 hours in Pachino.
came after a short drive to the Servizio Cristiano in Riesi, welcome to our joy it was already lunch on the table!
After the signing of the contract and payment of 75 € deposit for the keys (these and other curiosities they told us only in Torre Pellice via email), we learned first hand that the new director wants to introduce a 6-day week for all employees of the SC (about 20 people) and also for the volunteers. Also important that the 9-seater bus will only run when the director arrived
is ... And as if that's not enough: The Internet does not work since last Saturday!
went with this bunch of new information, we will first choose our rooms. Something little to smile about: The director makes sure that you do not run barefoot through the area, as can be out of the ground very hoarse and it would hurt the community
when someone gets blisters. Everyone reading this can imagine that we had a lot of talking point at the beginning until now and have.
Perhaps it should be mentioned here that the Servizio Cristiano until now has been rather led by interim directors, now, this should change with Dr. Gianluca Fiusco. The only - from the first day until now, just before his arrival - we know is that he wants to lead some respondents.
Now for the positive things in the Servizio Area!
We were more or less what work we choose to start (to be at least until September, because we new "classified" by the director) want to do
. August is marked by temporary solutions, which only starts on September 1 Servizio correctly. designed far, the division like this:
Clemens and I help the caretaker Pepe, Sebastian, Armin and Adrian Tano help in agriculture. Frank and Anna take care of the guest rooms. However, the Organization here is not as tight as for example, the almond crop helped with any decency. While we must emphasize as a janitor's assistant elementary school and preschool (1-5 class) new furniture and even carry around and reap the agricultural people tomatoes, almonds, and anything that the garden is growing by the Servizio. decency as the almond crop was a day for everyone the same program for almost 2 weeks:
going at 7 clock walk test (there it is not so hoarse)
long pants and a hat wise enough to drink, a wooden floor and a couple of networks, which more could you want ;-)
Many will wonder whether we are crazy in long trousers at about 36 degrees with Holzstoecken flogging almond ...
us felt the same. But at least if one is unfavorable to the wind and slap spent in the almond-one knows what the real nuisance at work and almond lice! Just countless small beasts fly towards you as soon as you get started.
One can not at all imagine how annoying it is to stick when you sweat, and thousands of small flies in one. The difficulty shaking off
almonds must then be by (previously laid out) cross-linked to the Ape (small green farm truck) brought and spread later
and sorted. It even went so far that we still afternoon in the fields rumbuckelten to pick up some almonds for a proud-
kilo price of 3 €! After such a rewarding work morning to a fever then for lunch, prepared by the cook contrary.
Although not beautiful sounds you prefer to be simple ;-) Other times I been there before the Caretaker, our final task was to dig up a broken pipe
in school after 2 hours and I heard Clemens auchmal then that it was the drain.
But as Pepe says: un lavoro che si deve fare (a work that needs to be made)
our free time we make because of our isolation and the inability to access the Internet, so that we
evening the plaza of the town center . seek Walking Around about 15 minutes away, you'll watch every day, just how many people come to a place to eat together and talk and every day! There Were Three times and band performances. This here is the season is so much going on sometimes because Riesi experiencing a high churn rate. In the summer, many people come back to visit their relative fall and friends.
The volunteers of the SC or German general enjoy a reputation here as it seems, it took almost an evening walk to Piazza
without honking or is called after us. Maybe it's because we stand out as a now 8-piece band that wherever we are.
offered Otherwise look at the broadcasts of the Olympics, because we have a TV in the common room. In the evening you may well go jogging
or the self-cooking try, or just go to the piazza and eat as cheap and tasty / drink :-)
visit from Adelfia!
From 08/22 to 08/24 we got visit from Benni, Ann-Kathrin and Lia! On Friday we went immediately to our current single highlight, the Piazza!
the evening was still enough time to talk in detail about the far past time to celebrate! In the morning on it was, unfortunately, nothing was Nocht
from our planned trip to the sea-bathing, our bus is not repaired and it had no real desire to 7 stand up and take the public bus.
A special thanks to our visit to cook and clean for the kitchen:-D Next time we come visit you then!
On Sunday we went for it back again with her van to Adelfia.
opens the door to civilization itself!
22:08 on Friday it was time-a bright spot for us volunteers, we came before us as if we already living on the moon!
The Italian Telecom has just under 3 weeks and 3 different technicians managed the Internet (at least in the office)
up and running! Wi-Fi access for our volunteers in the community room, the director However, set up yet ...
The heist in plain text we can only hours from 1 bis 2 clock on the computer of the secretary. For 8 volunteers of course a joke.
But ... Oh, how good, no one knows ... that of Clemens and I, together with a switch network cables were found, as we have reduced the full
computer room and dragged across half the land. This allowed schonmal seven volunteers (instead of one) simultaneously on the Internet,
However, with time limit, as the secretary throws us out by 2 clock.
three years training should not be in vain and therefore
I have discovered a network cable across the road to the building fuerte, which we have to renovate for future volunteers.
the moment we have therefore this solution is Internet access, but will soon be the 1st of September and the wireless network into operation! If
first from me, I've tried it as manageable as possible to keep :-)
I try to keep the blog as current as possible, in any case is to be read if we will be successful in the enforcement of some things ;-)
